How to Order Stone: Templating
Ordering Your Stone
Once you have received your quote it is time to place your order. This process includes signing a contract, paying a 50% deposit, and possibly scheduling a template date. The deposit secures your material (whether from our stock or a wholesaler) as well as securing a spot on our cut schedule. Please note a cut schedule is when fabrication will start on your job (by being cut on our bridge saw).
Templating
Templating will take place approximately one (1) week before your cut date, but after a complete cabinet installation. Area to be templated must be clean and free of obstacles and obstructions. This include any appliances or dishes that may be on any existing or temporary tops. Incomplete cabinet installation and/or no sinks or appliances on site at template are the primary reasons for delay and increased costs for additional site visits. It is important for you or your agent to be present to go over the details. These include, but are not limited to, joint location, overhang, and drill hole placement. Once the templating is completed a shop drawing will be made and submitted for final approval. The shop drawing will show the edge detail, the joint location(s), material, sinks, faucet locations, polished overhangs, and any other special notes. Please note joint location(s) will yield to the size of the slab and also the size of pieces that may be safely transported and installed at your locations (ie freight elevator, tight staircase or hallway, etc). Please consult your shop drawing for joint location(s).
Incomplete/improper cabinet installation may include (but is not limited too) the following:
- Unlevel cabinets - cabinets must be level to properly support the stone.
- Cabinets not permanently secured in final location - moving of cabinets after templating can result in poor fit and will not be the responsibility of Percoco Marble & Tile.
- Having installed upper cabinets that are to sit on top of the stone countertops - these cabinets must be installed after the countertops are in place.
